R U OK? Day 2023: The Power of Connection

On 14th September 2023, Australia comes together for R U OK? Day, a significant day that highlights the essence of mental well-being and the transformative power of sincere communication. This year, we're prompted to delve deeper with the question, "Are they truly okay?"

At Traffic Diversions Group (TDG), we believe in the importance of mental health and its impact on our daily lives. Our team is not just a workforce but a community, and we understand the value of supporting one another, especially during challenging times.

Ross Deacon, our State Manager, emphasises the significance of this day, stating, "Engaging with others is so important and a simple conversation could change a life. Spark up a conversation with a colleague, friend or family member to simply ask them the question, “R U OK?”. It could mean more than you think!"

We are fortunate to partner with our Employee Assistance Programme, TELUS Health, who continually provides invaluable support and resources to our team. As part of their commitment, TELUS Health has developed informative flyers, such as the "Knowing the Signs" poster attached below, to aid in recognising and addressing mental health concerns.

In addition to our partnership with TELUS Health, we also acknowledge the commendable efforts of the MATES organisation. Their unwavering dedication to the construction industry has led to the creation of tailored mental health programmes and resources. Their commitment to suicide prevention and fostering open communication about mental well-being is truly admirable. Their initiatives, from awareness training to hands-on support, play a pivotal role in reshaping the discourse around mental health in the construction realm.
