Altus Group's Advanced Fleet of Mobile Barriers and Truck Mounted Attenuators

As a company of the Altus Group, Traffic Diversions Group is dedicated to achieving the highest standards in road worker safety by adhering to the Road Worker Safety Guidelines. When the primary strategies of elimination and isolation from Appendix C of the guidelines are not applicable, we implement substitution treatments like mobile barriers and truck attenuators. These solutions are essential for aligning with Safe System objectives, aiming for a zero-harm outcome.

Ensuring Safety for Workers and Communities

Derived from the Roads Australia - Road Worker Safety Industry Guideline, the hierarchy of control emphasises the importance of separating workers from traffic and potential hazards. The Altus Group's extensive national fleet is engineered to support clients' projects while maintaining top-tier safety and compliance for both workers and the community. Our fleet boasts over 130 Truck Mounted Attenuators (TMAs) and approximately 2200 assets, including Traffic Management Vehicles, Drop Deck (Cone Trucks), and various TMA models, demonstrating our commitment to road worker safety.

Effective Substitution Treatments with Mobile Barriers and Truck Attenuators

Substitution treatments, such as mobile barriers and truck attenuators, play a crucial role in reducing the likelihood and severity of impacts in work zones. These devices protect workers and motorists from collisions with stationary or slow-moving trucks and are mounted on shadow vehicles to shield work crews from potential hazards.

Comprehensive TMA Fleet at Altus Group

  • TL2 TMAs: Designed for roads with speeds up to 80 km/h, these MASH Tested and Approved TMAs absorb impact energy and safely redirect vehicles, reducing crash severity. They are ideal for local roads and lower-speed highways.

  • TL3 TMAs: Providing enhanced protection for higher-speed roadways with speeds exceeding 100 km/h, these MASH Tested and Approved TMAs are built to withstand greater impact forces, ensuring safety for road workers and motorists in high-speed traffic conditions.

  • Light TMA TL2 Models: These smaller attenuators enhance mobility and reduce traffic congestion at worksites.

Advanced Traffic Management Vehicles

Our Traffic Management Vehicles are essential for deploying visible signals and signs along roadsides. They effectively warn drivers, barricade unsafe zones, regulate traffic flow at construction sites, and establish temporary areas with specific speed limits. This approach mitigates congestion, enhances safety, and reduces accident risks.

Commitment to Road Safety Innovation

Achieving safer roads in Australian work zones requires adopting and leveraging advanced safety solutions like mobile barriers and truck attenuators. The Altus Group Fleet is designed to support our clients' projects while prioritizing the highest levels of compliance and safety for our workers, clients' workers, and the communities we serve.
