Strengthening Safety Measures for Road Workers at TDG

Portable Site Alarm deployed, ensuring road work crews are alerted to any incursions or breaches, providing crucial time to reach safety.

At Traffic Diversions Group, safeguarding the safety of our road workers is paramount, particularly following recent findings from the "Roads Australia - Road Worker Safety Industry Guideline". These findings highlight the considerable hazards faced by our frontline employees daily.

Our road workers are often exposed to dangerous situations due to issues such as speeding, disregarding road signs, and direct interactions with the public. These behaviours not only jeopardise our team members safety but also pose risks to the public. A comprehensive survey by NTRO involving over 1,100 professionals from the industry identified speeding and ignoring road signs as significant threats, highlighting  the urgency for prompt intervention. Alarming data from Austroads also shows that road worksites on average witness 18 fatal crashes and 245 severe injury incidents each year.

Initiatives for Safety Enhancement

To reduce these risks, Traffic Diversions Group has implemented several key measures:

  • Extensive Training: We have launched extensive safety training programs focusing on situational awareness and emergency protocols for all staff members.

  • Technological Advancements: We have integrated state-of-the-art technology for the real-time digitisation of workzones and traffic management, which improves team coordination and enhances response times.

  • Community Outreach: Through partnerships with local communities and authorities, we aim to elevate public awareness regarding the importance of adhering to roadwork signs and speed limits.

  • Policy Advocacy: With the support of the Altus Group and in collaboration with industry leaders and policy makers, we advocate for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations within workzones.

At Traffic Diversions Group, enhancing the safety of our road workers is a continual focus and aligns with the best practices recommended by the "Roads Australia - Road Worker Safety Industry Guideline", aiming to protect every road worker each day.

Intellicone sensors transform standard cones into smart assets, monitoring speed and detecting incursions on site.
